Complete Fruits Basket Watch Order (OFFICIAL)

AAAAAAANDD we’re back again with another watch order! Now let’s see what our lucky anime is for today…*drum rolls*… tada! We have Fruits Basket. Well that’s what you searched for, so obviously that’s what you’ll get, you dummy.

So, as I was saying… Fruits Basket is a romantic comedy, slice of life, and supernatural fiction. Personally, this is one of the fewest rom-coms I’ve ever watched that didn’t bore me. I was even really hyped. I feel like I’m possessed, this isn’t me bruh, I’m an action-thriller person for Pete’s sake!

The entire series was like an emotional rollercoaster ride. One moment I’m smiling like crazy, and before I know it, I’m already fuming mad, and I’d like to charge that anger to Akito. He’s worse than Malty… oh wait… actually no, they’re equally the worst. Their spot is already reserved in hell, that’s for sure.

I talked too much didn’t I? HAHAHA! Welp! Sorry for stalling you for so long. Now, let me make it up to you. Let’s dig into the watch order you’ve been waiting for!

  2. Fruits Basket Season 1 (2019)
  3. Fruits Basket Season 2 (2020)

Honestly? You can just skip this one if you’re trying to save time and effort—well that unless you are a die-hard fan of Fruits Basket, and you want to knock out all of its animated series.

Now, now… hold your horses before you scold me for telling you to skip the original anime. It’s actually because this original adaptation of the series we’re pertaining to is not totally faithful to the manga. The remake had better animation and is more accurate—too accurate that it doesn’t even have fillers HAHA! (Check this out for reference:  Complete Fruits Basket Filler List)

Tohru started living in a very flimsy tent in the middle of someone else’s property after she lost her mother. And of course, for obvious reasons, the tent didn’t last long after an unfortunate circumstance came into the picture.

Luckily for her, Yuki Sohma offered to take her in BUT in exchange of… hey it’s not something lewd, quit it, will you? Shigure just asked Tohru to take care of the household chores the moment she starts staying at their place. Yes, household chores, nothing else.

She also got to meet Shigure, Yuki’s cousin, and later on, she also came to know Kyo. But wait, there’s more! She didn’t just meet the members of the Sohma family, she also found out their secret! What could it be?

After settling with the Sohmas, Tohru tagged along when they decided to spend their summer at one of their beachside properties.

But hey, this isn’t an ordinary beach episode because Akito also decided to visit the same place.

Well, we’re talking about Fruits Basket here, we’re bound to get emotionally hurt one way or another as payment for the joy we felt when Kyo and Tohru had their alone time. Yes, they have an alone time because duh it’s Akito, when did he ever want to see our best boy, Kyo?

Remember the secret I told you about on the Season 1 recap? Welp! It doesn’t stop with that one secret. One revelation after another happened in the span of two seasons, and in the final season, which is Fruits Basket: The Final or Fruits Basket Season 3, I tell you, things just got crazier and darker!

The ride isn’t over yet, my ninjas! We just arrived at the highest peak of the roller coaster ride, and we’re gonna go down real fast. So fasten your seatbelts and prepare your hearts and minds for the biggest revelation of all.

Even Tohru who has a firm resolve to help the Sohmas lift the curse got too overwhelmed by all the information she heard from Kureno to the point that she got confused of what to do next.

THIS IS A MUST WATCH SEASON! You can’t miss a single episode, and I don’t even recommend doubling the speed when watching. But of course, just because I told you that it’s a must watch in all caps, doesn’t mean you’ll skip the first two seasons. It will only make you feel lost, like for real.

Episodes: 1

Air date: February 18, 2022

Woah! Just one episode?! Well, well, well, of course it’s just one episode because it’s a movie.

What’s a better way to end a long series? Of course a recap of the entire anime, right? But hey, this isn’t just an ordinary recap movie that you can skip becaaauseee, guess what? There’s a bonus!

Along with the recap of the entire series, we’ll also get to see the backstory of how Kyoko and Katsuya, Tohru’s parents, met and became lovers!

So yeah… I don’t really recommend skipping this one.

So… ready to start binge-watching? Go on, take all the snacks you have in your fridge or cabinet to your room and have a feast with it while watching Fruits Basket, don’t be shy. Oh! And bring also some water and tissues as well because you might choke on your food while you’re bawling your eyes out.

After watching the entire series, come back and visit this page again, and tell me about your experience in the comments section.

P.S.: You better bookmark this blog, and tell me your story or else you’ll bump your little toe at the door right after you finish the series without getting back here with a story to tell.
